Education

I am currently studying Physics and Philosophy with a minor in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Miami as a Stamps Leadership Scholar. I am maintaining a 4.0 GPA and part of the Class of 2019. In high school, I was president of the Math and Spanish Honors societies and was the editor in chief of my school’s newspaper. I was also heavily involved in FIRST Robotics, where I learned to code in Java and C++ and was the co-team lead for 2 years. Outside of school, I have taught myself basic economics, business principles and best practices, history, and psychology (mostly biases) through books.

Experience

While in high school, I tutored extensively in high school mathematics and Spanish, and US History. While in college, I have so far tutored in Economics, Mathematics, and Physics. I enjoy starting from fundamental ideas, first principles, and building an understanding from there. *SATs* When I took the SATs for the first time as a Junior, I received a 1770. By the third time I took the SATs, I got a 2330 (Writing 800, Essay 12, Reading 760, Math 770), improving 540 points. When taking the PSATs and other standardized tests, I always thought I was a bad test taker. I realized that with much practice and learning the test, not just the material, I could drastically improve. *AP Tests* On the following tests, I received a 5: Spanish Language & Culture, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, US History, and Calculus AB. I received a 4 on Physics 1 and English Language & Composition. *SAT Subject Tests* - Mathematics 2: 770 - Spanish: 780 - US History: 760 *Experience* I spent one year in Lima, Peru during my Junior year of high school immersed in the Spanish language and Peruvian culture as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. I would strongly recommend an immersion experience if you are trying to learn a new language well. And it is an experience that will last for a long time. I enjoy the process of learning and I want to be involved in all parts of that process. I strive in one-on-one environments and look forward to working with anyone that is interested in learning and willing to put in the effort. *College Classes* I have taken and am currently taking the following classes: - Calculus II - Multivariable Calculus (Currently Taking) - Linear Algebra: Honors (Currently Taking) - Physics 1 - Physics 2 & 3: Honors (Currently Taking) - Electrical Circuit Theory (Currently Taking) - Introduction to Computer Science - Symbolic Logic - Theory of Knowledge (Currently Taking) - Introduction to Philosophy - Books That Matter: Honors (Currently Taking)

Hobbies

I love to read, learn, and play sports. I read anything from fantasy to science fiction (loved the Martian!) to biographies to textbooks. I played tennis throughout high school and am currently playing Ultimate Frisbee for the University of Miami team. I am also training for a trans-America bicycle trip that I will embark on this summer with friends from Boston, MA to the state of Washington. This past semester, I joined the Aeronautics and Aerospace club and am participating in a NASA-funded competition to build a rocket that will go over 3,000 feet high. I knew nothing about rockets before the summer of 2015 and am literally learning rocket science. It’s awesome!
